I write on the 10th month anniversary of the Lekki Shooting on 20th October, 2021 to condemn in strongest terms the arrest of Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation Now's Agitator in neighbouring Republic of Benin by the goons of the Buhari-led regime.
I also condemn in strong terms the role of Republic of Benin authorities who acted in connivance with the Buhari-led regime in carrying out this dastardly act.
10 months after the brutal killing of innocent protesters by the goons of the Buhari-led regime with the approval of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, we have seen heightened attacks on democratic rights.
It is in this light that the conferment of "Personality of the Year" on Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, who ordered the Lekki Shooting by Vanguard Newspapers is CONDEMNABLE. Indeed Vanguard Newspapers and Babajide Sanwo-Olu should be placed in #HallofShame.
Perpetual tyranny demands perpetual resistance. There is urgent need for a rallying series of civil disobedience including sit-at-homes, strikes and general strikes with mass protests to end this reign of tyranny.
Equally, the extension of the time of the tenure of the Lagos State Judicial Panel on Compensation for SARS-Related Abuses and Other Related Matters for three months. Apart from the fact that it took pressure from forces like Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA) and New Nigeria Network to secure this concession, the three month extension fall short of the demand for six months and grossly insufficient.
In a related development, RAMINBA and New Nigeria Network is holding a 2ND ADENIYI ADEWUMI MEMORIAL LECTURE and WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE on the insufficient extension on Thursday, 22nd July, 2021 at the Bar Centre of NBA IKEJA BRANCH by 10am in the morning.
Equally, there will be a #JusticeforJumoke march on Friday, 23rd July, 2021 to protest the killing of Jumoke, the lady shot in the back by rampaging policemen who broke up the Yoruba Nation Now protests of July 3rd, 2021.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
